TWAS - ROLAC is accepting candidacies for the 3rd edition of the “Young Scientist Prize” in the region

In 2008, the prize will be awarded in the areas of Engineering, Medical and Health Sciences, Biology Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.

Dear Colleagues,

  

The TWAS Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (TWAS-ROLAC) is accepting candidacies for the 3rd edition of the “Young Scientist Prize” in our region.

 

In 2008, the prize will be awarded in the areas of Engineering, Medical and Health Sciences, Biology  Sciences and Agricultural Sciences.                                 

 

Applications must include:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Description of the reasons that justify the candidacy, which must all be sent by electronic mail.

 

Candidates must have less than 40 years of age in 2008, with at least ten years affiliated to an institution in countries of the region.  The prize is a recognition of contributions made by active researchers in Latin America and the Caribbean.

 

Please send all documents by e-mail to contact@twas-rolac.org (specify the subject: YS 3rd Prize), up to April 1st  2008. The announcement of the awardees will occur on April 18, 2008, published in the site www.twas-rolac.org.

 

The prize of US$ 2,000 also includes a trip to Rio de Janeiro to attend the annual welcome ceremony of the new members of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, to be held on May 6th, 2008.

 

Please note that the awardees will be making a presentation of their work in the Young Scientists Symposium that will be held in conjunction with the above mentioned ceremony, on May 5th to May 7th.
