International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP) - Summer 2008

For a fifth year, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI) in Waterloo, Canada, will be holding its annual International Summer School for Young Physicists (ISSYP) under the patronage of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. A total of 80 highly motivated high school students (16-17 years of age) who are passionate about maths and science – 40 from across Canada and 40 international students - will be immersed in the mind-blending world of cutting-edge ideas about our universe. The physics camp is also an opportunity for students to interact with the world class physicists at PI, to tour various labs in Ontario and make new friends from around the globe.

The two camps will be held from July 22- August 2, 2008 and August 8 – 20, 2008.

Deadline for ISSYP applications is March 25, 2008.

International students must fund their transportation costs from their own country to Toronto. However, all of the ISSYP associated costs in Canada (e.g. local transportation, accommodation, food, materials, etc) are covered by the Institute.

Einstein Plus Teacher’s Workshop on Modern Physics – Summer 2008 This popular summer science workshop for teachers is being offered in two sessions during the month of July 2008, and is open to international teachers. A total of 80 teachers (40 each per week long session) will enjoy a unique opportunity to explore cutting edge ideas in modern physics with scientists at Perimeter Institute, learn new and innovative teaching strategies to take back home and share with other educators, and enjoy social events with dynamic teachers from across the world who share the same passion for physics.

The two workshops will be held from July 2 – 8, 2008 and July 10 – 16, 2008.
