Young Scientist Prize 2009

Dear Colleagues,
The TWAS Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean (TWAS-ROLAC) invites all scientists in the region to make nominations for the 4th edition of the TWAS-ROLAC Young Scientist Prize.
The TWAS-ROLAC Prize is a recognition of contributions made by active young researchers in Latin America and the Caribbean. The prize of US$ 2,000 also includes a trip to Rio de Janeiro to attend the annual inauguration ceremony for new members of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, to be held in May 4-6, 2009. On the occasion the awardees will be invited to make a presentation of their works.
In 2009, the TWAS-ROLAC Young Scientist Prize will be awarded in the areas of:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Earth and Space Sciences
Candidates must be 40 years of age or less in 2009 and have been affiliated to institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean for the last ten years, at least.
Nominations must be made by email to contact@twas-rolac.org (Subject: Young Scientist Prize), including:
- Brief exposition of the reasons that justify the nomination
- Curriculum Vitae of the candidate, including the list of publications
Preferably, letters of recommendation from international experts should also be included.
All documents must be sent by e-mail to contact@twas-rolac.org by February 28th, 2009. The names of the awardees will be announced by April 10, 2009 on the website www.twas-rolac.org.
