Uberlândia, Brazil, 1992-94; and Prof., Genetics and Biochemistry, Univ. Fed.
de Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil, 1988-2000. His awards include: Souzandrade
Gold Medal of Univ. Merit, 1987, Fed, Univ. of Maranhão; DSc (h.c.), Methodist
Univ., 1990; Citizenship of Maranhão State, 1991; Prof. Emeritus, State of São
Paulo Univ., 1992; Gran Cruz, Natl. Order of Sci. Merit, Brazil, 1994; Pres.,
Brazilian Soc. of Genetics, 1994-96; and Appointed One of the Best 30 Brazilian
