| Biography | | Gustavo Hoecker Salas
was educated in Chile and the UK. He was previously: Research Scientist in the
Department of Pathology at Guy’s Hospital, Medical School at London University;
Research Scientist at Roscoe B. Jackson Memorial Laboratory Bar Harbor, Maine;
Full Professor in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of
Chile; Head of the Immunogenetics Section, Faculty of Medicine, at the
University of Chile; Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University
of Chile; First Dean of the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Chile;
Invited Professor at the Istituto di Genetica Umana, Ospedale delle Molinette
in Torino, Italy; Invited Professr at the New York Blood Centre; and Director
of the Chagas Research Project at WHO/TDR. He was awarded the National Science
Award, Chile, in 1989. He is a Fellow of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. |
