| Biography | | Dr. Colli is
Professor of Biochemistry at the University of São Paulo (USP). He received his
PhD at the School of Medicine, under the supervision of Isaias Raw and did
postdoctoral work at the PHRI of the City of New York with Maynard Pullman
(1966-1968) and Michio Oishi (1968-1969). Returning to Brazil in 1970, he
established a group at the Institute of Chemistry (IQUSP), to work with
Molecular Parasitology, particularly with Trypanosoma cruzi, the agent of
Chagas' disease. He was Director of IQUSP twice and of the Butantan Institute,
the snake farm. He received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the
University of Buenos Aires, the Great Cross Medal of the National Order of
Scientific Merit from the Brazilian government and is a member of the Brazilian
Academy of Sciences. Presently, he is the Director of a newly founded Institute
of International Relations at USP. |
