| Biography | | Jaime Requena is Full
Professor at the Instituto Internacional de Estudios Avanzados (IDEA). He
obtained a PhD degree in Physics and Chemistry from Cambridge and has held top
administrative positions in his country including Director of IDEA, its
International Center for Scientific Cooperation, and the UNESCO Regional
Center. He received several distinctions, among them a Special Mention of the
Organization of American States "Manuel Noriega Morales"
International Prize for Young Researcher in Biology. In 1994, he was elected
"Simón Bolívar" Professor and Chair of Latin American Studies at
Cambridge and Professorial Fellow at Churchill College. In 1997, Cambridge
University awarded him a ScD degree. He is a Member (Chair XXVI) of the
National Academy of Sciences of Venezuela. |
