| Biography | | Hector R. Croxatto,
MD, became professor of physiology at the Physical and Technical Institute of
the University of Chile in 1930. Through his work, he has contributed original
research and observations concerning the role of peptides in the pathogenesis
of arterial hypertension. Furthermore, he has helped to advance the development
of biological research in Chile and has been a mentor to several prominent
students who have had successful careers. He was Director and Founder of the
Training and Improvement of Teachers Center of the Ministry of Education,
Chile, and he served as President of the Latin American Academy of Sciences in
Caracas, Venezuela. His numerous honours include: Grande Ufficiale, Italy,
1976; the National Award of Science, Chile, 1979; and the Bernardo Houssay
Award, 1981. He is a member of many national and international scientific
societies and academies. |
