| Biography | | Dr. Whittembury was
educated both at the Faculty of Sciences and of Medicine, Universidad Mayor de
San Marcos (UNMSM) and Universidad Cayetano Heredia (UCH) in Lima, Peru. He
obtained his BMed in 1955, Med. Cir. in 1955 and DMedSc in 1965. He is Senior
Scientist Emeritus (active) at Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones
Científicas (IVIC). His previous positions include: Visiting Professorships in
the USA, UK and Germany; and Scientific Attache (a.h.) at the Peruvian Embassy
in Venezuela. He has been awarded the Daniel Carrion Prize for Culture, Peru,
the Andrés Bello Order 1st class, Venezuela and Professor (h.c.), UCH, Lima,
and Dr. Med. h.c. UNMSM, Lima. He is a member (co-chancellor) of the Latin
American Academy of Sciences, Biophysical Society, American Society of
Nephrology, International Society of Nephrology and the Venezuelan and Peruvian
Societies of Nephrology. |
