| Biography | | Dr. Guarneros's main
contributions have been to the field of bacterial and phage molecular genetics,
post-transcriptional control of phage lambda and bacterial gene expression. His
discovery of unique biological phenomena led to the novel concepts of
retroregulation of gene expression and minigene-mediated regulation of protein
synthesis. He is Emeritus Professor at CINVESTAV (Ctr. for Research and
Advanced Studies) and Emeritus Member of SNI (Natl. System of Researchers),
Mexico. He has received the 'Leader in the Formation of Researchers' award by
CINVESTAV. He has also served as reviewer in study sections for Consejo
Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, Mexico, the Mexican Academy of Sciences and
international journals. He has been a fellow of prestigious intl. organizations
such as the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, the European Community and the
Howard Hughes Medical Institute. |
