| Biography | | Dr. del Pino is Full
Professor of Biological Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of
Ecuador (PUCE). After obtaining her PhD degree at Emory University, del Pino
returned to Ecuador in 1972 and has since worked at PUCE. She has received
several awards including the 1984-85 Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for work
at the Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, a Diploma from the World Wildlife
Fund for the education for conservation efforts in the Galapagos Islands, and
the 2000 L'Oreal/UNESCO Award For Women in Science. She is Honorary Foreign
Member of the American Society of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists, member of
the Latin American Academy of Sciences, Honorary Foreign Member of the American
Academy of Arts and Sciences and Foreign Associate of the US National Academy
of Sciences. |
