| Biography | | Elisa Reis obtained her BA (Sociology) and MA (Political Science) in Brazil and her PhD (Political Science) from MIT. She is Professor of Political Sociology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She has been visiting professor at several universities including UC San Diego, Columbia University, MIT, and the Ludwig Maximiliam Universitat, Munich. She has held leading positions such as: Chair, Interdisciplinary Research Network on Inequality; President, National Association for the Social Sciences (ANPOCS); Secretary General, Brazilian Sociological Society; and elected member of the Executive Committee of the International Political Science Association (1988-1994) and the International Sociological Association (2006-2010). She is member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. |
