Biography
Dr. Woodman was educated at Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería in Lima, Peru in 1956 and Harvard (MS, 1958 and PhD, Applied Physics, 1967). He is Director of the Jicamarca Radio Observatory, Instituto Geofísico del Peru. His previous positions include: Visiting Professor, Kyoto University, 1989-90; Senior Research Associate, Cornell, 1982-90; Executive President, Instituto Geofísico del Peru, 1981-85; and Head of the Atmospheric Physics Group, National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center, Arecibo PR, 1979-81. His awards include: NASA International Scholarship, Harvard; National Prize of Culture, Natural and Mathematical Sciences, Peru; Decoration “Medalla al Mérito Jorge Chávez Dartnell”, Fuerza Aerea del Peru; National Award of Innovation, COASPI/Universidad del Pacifico; and Appleton Prize, URSI and Royal Society, London. He is a Member of the Academia Nacional de Ciencias del Peru.
