| Biography | | Dr. Garcia-Colin obtained his PhD in Theoretical Physics at the University of Maryland in 1960. He is Distinguished Professor of Physics at the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa in Mexico, D.F. His previous positions include: Research Associate at the Institute for Fluid Dynamics and Applied Mathematics, University of Maryland; Professor, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Universidad de Puebla, and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM); and Head of the Applied Research Division, Mexican Petroleum Institute. He was awarded the Science Award by the Academia de la Investigacion Cientifica in Mexico in 1965 and the National Award in Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 1988. He is a Member of El Colegio Nacional and the Latin American Academy of Sciences. |
