| Biography | | Dr. Brieva was educated at the University of Chile where he became an Electrical Engineer in 1973 and obtained his MSc (Physics, 1974). He obtained his DPhil in 1978 at the University of Oxford. He is Professor of Physics at the University of Chile. He was previously: Chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Chile, 1984-85; Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the University of Chile, 1986-88; Research Officer at the University of Oxford, 1978-79; Visiting Professor at the University of Georgia, 1989; CEO of the Chilean Nuclear Energy Commission, 1990-91; Chairman of the Physics Department at the University of Chile, 1996-98; and Visiting Professor at the University of Florence, Italy, Daresbury Laboratory and Oxford University, University of Melbourne, Australia, and Ohio University. He is a Member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. |
