| Biography | | Dr. Romo is Professor
of Neuroscience and Head of the Department of Biophysics at the Institute of
Cellular Physiology at UNAM in Mexico City. He is a world leader in cognitive
neuroscience. He has greatly advanced understanding of how the brain mediates
perception and simple forms of decision making and action. His awards include:
Demuth Prize, Switzerland; International Research Scholar Award, Howard Hughes
Medical Institute; Science and Technology Prize, Organization of American
States; and the National Prize for Sciences and Arts, Mexico. He is a Member of
the Mexican Academy of Sciences, The Neuroscience Research Program headed by
Professor Gerald Edelman and a Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of
Sciences. |
