| Biography | | Raimundo Villegas is
currently Professor Titular of the Instituto de Estudios Avanzados (IDEA),
Caracas; Director of the Unit for Molecular Neurobiology, Chancellor of the
Academia de Ciencias de America Latina (ACAL); President of the Fundación Pro
Ciencia; Member of the Advisory Commission of UNESCO Regional Office for
Science and Technology; and President of the Fundación Centro de Estudios
Científicos de Caracas (CEC-Caracas). His awards include: Order of Andrés Bello
Decoration, Second Class, Caracas, 1970, and First Class, 1972; Order Sol del
Perú Decoration, First Class, Peru, 1981; Order Diego de Lozada Decoration,
First Class, Venezuela, 1982; Order of El Libertador, «Gran Cordon», Caracas,
1984. He is a Member of numerous national and international forums as well as
the Academia de Ciencias de América Latina (ACAL) and the World Academy of Arts
and Sciences. |
