| Biography | | Dr. Ferreira is
Emeritus Professor of the Faculty of Medicine, Ribeirão Preto (FMRP). He
graduated from the University of São Paulo Medical School and obtained his PhD
in Pharmacology at FMRP. He participated in some of the main discoveries with
the Nobelist JR Vane, at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and worked in
industrial drug development (England) and public health (Brazil). He was member
of the Department of Pharmacology of FMRP for more than 40 years. For his work
in the peptides inhibitors of the conversion of angiotensin and mechanism of
action of peripheral analgesics, he received many awards including the CIBA
Award for Hypertension. He is a Member of the Brazilian Academy of Science,
Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences, USA, and Honorary member
of The Brazilian Society for Development of Science. |
