| Biography | | Ruy Perez-Tamayo was
educated at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico Medical School where he
received his MD in 1950. He pursued post-graduate training in Pathology at Washington University in Missouri from 1950-52.
He is currently Head of the Department of Experimental Medicine and Professor
of Pathology at the National Autonomous University of Mexico Medical School. He
was previously: Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pathology at the
National Autonomous University of Mexico Medical School from 1953-67; Head of
the Department of Cell Biology at the Institute for Biomedical Research from
1967-73; and Head of the Department of Pathology at the National Institute for
Nutrition from 1973-83. He was awarded the National Science Prize and Honorary
doctorates from 3 universities. He is a Member of the Mexican Academy of
Sciences and the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua. |
