| Biography | | Dr. Kourí is Director
General, Institute of Tropical Medicine “Pedro Kouri,” Havana, Cuba, Director
of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Medical Malacology
and Biology Control of Vectors and Intermediate Hosts. His previous positions
include: President, Latin American Society of Tropical Medicine; President,
Latin American Federation of Parasitology; and President, Central America Soc.
Parasiogy. His awards include: Medal Fernando Ortiz, Cuban Acad. of Sciences;
Carlos Finlay Natl. Order, State Council, Cuba; Lázaro Peña Natl. Order, Cuba;
Labour Hero, Cuba; and DSc, Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1989. His membership
includes: Royal Soc. of Tropical Medicine; Am. Soc. for the Adv. of Science;
