| Biography | | Fernando Mönckeberg
Barros obtained his MD at the University of Chile in 1952. He is currently:
Rector of the University of Santo Tomás in Santiago, Chile; Director of the
Institute of Nutrition and Food Technology at the University of Chile; and
President of the Chilean Nutrition Foundation, (CONIN). His previous positions
include: Associate Professor at Harvard University in 1959; Professor of
Pediatrics at the University of Chile in 1965; and Professor of Nutrition at
the University of Chile in 1967. His honours include: Prize of the Chilean
Society of Pediatrics, 1975; Abraham Horwitz Prize, Pan-American Health
Education Foundation, Washington, 1979; and Christopherson Prize, American
Academy of Pediatrics, 1985. He is a Member of the New York Academy of Sciences
and the Chilean Academy of Medicine. |
