| Biography | | Dr. Cavalheiro
obtained his PhD (Neurophysiology, 1978) at the Escola Paulista de Medicina in
Brazil. He is: Professor of Experimental Neurology in the Departamento de
Neurologia e Neurocirurgia at the Escola Paulista de Medicina, Universidade
Federal de São Paulo; Secretary General of the International Bureau for
Epilepsy; President of the Neurobiology Commission of the International League
Against Epilepsy; and Secretary for S&T Programmes and Policies, Ministry
for Science and Technology, Brazil. He has developed important animal models of
human temporal lobe epilepsy. His honours include
the Grã-Cruz do Mérito Científico Nacional, Ministry of S&T, Brazil and
Comendador da Ordem do Rio Branco, MRE, Brazil. His membership includes: Brazilian Academy of
Sciences; Board of Directors, International League Against Epilepsy; and
Brazilian Epilepsy Association. |
