| Biography | | Dr. Asenjo is
Professor and Director of the Centre for Biochemical Engineering and
Biotechnology in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at
the University of Chile, Santiago. He is a respected biochemical engineer who
has developed an expert system for the optimal selection of multi-step protein
separation and purification sequences, based on databases of the principal
physico-chemical properties of proteins in recombinant systems. His most
important contribution to the biochemical engineering field is the introduction
of chemical and physical principles into empirically based bioprocess
practices. He is a Fellow of the Chilean Academy of Sciences and has won the
Chancellor’s Medal of the University and the National Prize for Applied and Technological
Sciences. |
