| Biography | | Professor Hervé Allamand was educated at the University of Chile in Santiago, the University of Paris and Hokkaido University in Japan where he obtained his PhDs in 1968 and 1974 respectively. He is currently Professor of Geology in the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile. He was previously Director of the Department of Geology at the University of Chile and Vice President of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). He was awarded the National Prize in Geology from the Colegio de Geólogos de Chile and the L. von Buch Plakette from the German Geological Society. His membership includes: Geological Society of Chile; Geological Society of Argentina (Corresponding Member); Geological Society of America (Honorary Fellow); and the Chilean Academy of Sciences. |
