| Biography | | Professor Giesecke Matto is president of the Peruvian Academy of Sciences and Director Adjunto of the Regional Center for Seismology for South America (CERESIS). His previous positions include: Electrical Engineer at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; Training in Geophysics at the Huancayo Magnetic Observatory, Carnegie Institution, Washington, 7 years; Former Head of the Geophysical Institute of Peru and the Pan-American Geophysics Commission; and Editor “Revista Geofisica"; Founder, National Council for Science and Technology and the Association for Advancement of Science of Peru. His awards include: French Legion of Honour; National Prize for Science; Amauta for Education; Distinguished Government Service; Honorary Doctor Catholic University; Campodonico for Professional Services to Community; and COSAPI for Innovation. |
