| Biography | | Hernán Chaimovich
obtained his degree in Biochemistry at the Universidade de São Paulo (USP),
Brazil in 1962. He is currently: Pro-Rector for Research, USP, Säo Paulo,
Brazil; Full Professor at USP; and Director of the Institute of Chemistry, USP.
He was previously: Pro-Rector for Research at USP, São Paulo from 1997-01;
Chairman of the Department of Biochemistry at the Chemistry Institute, USP from
1985-89 and from 1994-96; and President of the Brazilian Society of
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from 1994-96. He was awarded: Brazilian
Order for Scientific Merit, Commendador Class, 1995; Grã Cruz, 2000; and the
Rheinboldt-Hauptmann Prize, Chemistry Institute, USP, 1996. He is a Member of
the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Latin American Academy of Sciences
and a Corresponding Member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. |
