| Biography | | Luis F. Rodriguez is currently Full Professor at the National University of Mexico (UNAM) and Head of the Morelia Branch at the Instituto de Astronomía, UNAM. He was previously Director of the Instituto de Astronomía, UNAM from 1980-86 and Head of the Computing Department at the Instituto de Astronomía, UNAM from 1991-93. He is a well known observational astronomer and established radio astronomy in Mexico. He discovered the high velocity outflows in regions of star formation, the mechanism that powers Herbig-Haro objects, the first source with superluminal motions in our Galaxy, and the high resolution studies of binary protoplanetary disks. His awards include: National Award, Mexico; Bruno Rossi Award, American Astronomical Society; and Ricardo J. Zevada Award, Mexico. He is Member of El Colegio Nacional, the Mexican Academy of Sciences, and the Latin American Academy of Sciences. |
