TWAS and the University of Calabria (UNICAL) are pleased to announce a new Fellowship for students from Haiti (only) who wish to obtain a Master’s degree in the areas of pharmacology or nutrition.
The Fellowship is tenable in Italy at the University of Calabria for a maximum of three years. Women scientists from Haiti are especially encouraged to apply
TWAS Fellowships: 2011 Call for Applications Postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholar and advanced research fellowships available to scientists from developing countries
TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, www.twas.org, is now accepting applications for its postgraduate, postdoctoral, visiting scholars and advanced research fellowship programmes. The fellowships are offered to scientists from developing countries and are tenable at centres of excellence in various countries in the South, including Brazil, China, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan and Thailand. Eligible fields include: agricultural and biological sciences, medical and health sciences, chemistry, engineering, astronomy, space and earth sciences, mathematics and physics.

Romain Murenzi Appointed TWAS Executive Director
7 February 2011. Romain Murenzi, a key architect of Rwanda's efforts to devise a successful blueprint for science-based sustainable development after years of civil war and genocide, has been appointed the new executive director of TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world. He replaces the academy's long-time executive director, Mohamed H.A. Hassan, who is retiring.

TWAS To Meet In India
TWAS, the academy of sciences for the developing world, will hold its 21st General Meeting in Hyderabad, India, on 19-22 October 2010. More than 350 scientists from 35 countries are expected to attend. Dr. Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, will address the delegates at the opening ceremony.
